Sometimes things don't go as we had planned.
You may have had the perfect idea of your birth. You and your partner attended hypnobirthing sessions, or another form of childbirth preparation, you had your birth plan, and you felt prepared.
Or maybe you had previously had the perfect birth, and assumed this one would go just as easily, but that was not the case.
Maybe your partner disappointed you. You had to undergo a caesarean even though you didn't want to. Or it was just incredibly painful and long.
Maybe your baby was taken away from you and there were moments when you didn't know whether or not they were alive.
Your baby may have also experienced an enormous struggle to come into this world and there was not enough space to just softly connect with them.

So do you just move on? How do you move past the painful memories?
This online women's group, which combines helpful, self-paced material is designed to allow you to tell your birth story, to be fully received and heard in it, and to re-write it with a new lens.
When we experience trauma, we remember things differently, sometimes only fragments, and only things which reinforce a certain preconceived belief, i.e. people are never there for me, I always have to do things myself, things never go as I planned, I'm a failure, I can't do anything right.
The point is, we keep ourselves in a powerless position by repeating these thoughts, and they eventually begin to determine who we are. Unfortunately, without processing a traumatic birth experience, you could end up holding onto resentful feelings, anger, and grief unnecessarily.
It's helpful to have an empowering, safe space to share your feelings and to know you are not alone. If you have had a traumatic birth experience, it can even get in the way of attachment and bonding and trigger postpartum depression.
